The Backma Hill was the most bloodshed field, where
its winner got switched 24 times with 300,000 cannon balls from Chinese
Army in a 10-day offensive during the Korean War.
The hill has been called Backma (white horse) since the Hill lost
its original shape and looked like a lied-down horse due to severe
artillery fire.
To honor the soldiers of the 9th division of ROK Army, who lost their
lives in the battle to defend the Hill to the last minute during the
Korean War, the monument was erected at Dongsong-up in Chulwon-kun.
The Backma Museum collection includes bazooka guns, ammunitions, magazines
used at the time.
